While I’m busy writing newspaper articles, building Web sites for clients and preparing for upcoming workshops and presentations, my own Web site awaits an upgrade to reflect Step-by-Step’s growth and service offerings . . .
Here's an important tip inspired by a question I just received:
I only recommend one registrar for domain registration. This registrar is a lot better priced and more generous in its services than others I've seen. Its customer service is great (state-side representatives always answer the phone during their business hours and they actually have time to talk) and this company doesn't charge for things like URL forwarding and other things that you should be free to manage yourself. In addition, this particular registrar is extremely compatible with the only DIY website-building platform I recommend to my "Design, Build and Manage Your Own Web Site" workshoppers.
I no longer publish the name of my preferred registrar, but if you're interested as an honest consumer, you may click here to contact me via e-mail (please include your phone number). No matter which registrar I prefer, however, these are some of the things you need to consider before choosing one for your website's domain . . .

(Continued from post on customizing PayPal customer payment pages to reflect Weebly site header image)
You may want to further customize your customer payment page to visually coordinate with your Weebly website. We’ve already discussed step-by-step instructions for adding your site’s company logo (uncut) to your PayPal customer payment page, but you can further customize the PayPal customer payment page with colored border and image background. To do so, follow these steps . . .
How to Customize PayPal Customer Payment Page to Reflect Your Weebly Site's Logo, Even if Your Site's Logo is Too Large
If you have a large header logo/image on your Weebly site and you want the entire image to appear (uncut) on your customized PayPal customer payment page, follow these instructions to establish a smaller version of the header logo for use with PayPal payment page and a larger version of your header logo to mask the smaller one on your Weebly website for visual impact . . .
I just heard it again: I had somebody build my Web site, things didn't work out between us, and now he won't release my domain name to me!
This behavior is sickening. Completely unethical in almost every case. If only someone had told the owner of the site to "always secure your own domain name!" . . .

Despite what some might want you to believe, there's no reason not to create your own website on a good do-it-yourself platform if building on that platform meets your short- and near-term (maybe even long-term) needs and you have a decent understanding of some important principles of site design and SEO best practices. To some degree it's no different than any other DIY project--painting the interior of your home, for example. Here's what you need to understand and consider. I recommend taking the few minutes it requires to read the entire article; bullet points don't offer the same depth of insight that full explanations do . . .
